LAPL Certificate
A LAPL certificate (Light Airplane Pilots License) requires at least 30 hours of practical flight training before the flight skill test can be taken. After passing the flight test, an additional 10 hours of flying experience is required as the sole on board before you can take passengers.
The LAPL certificate means that you can fly single-engine aircraft with a maximum take-off weight of 2000 kg and a maximum of 3 passengers + pilot. You can fly an aircraft with more than 4 seats, but is thus limited to 3 passengers regardless. A LAPL can be extended to PPL through a short supplementary training and a new flight test.
PPL certificate
A PPL certificate (Private Pilots License) requires at least 45 hours of practical flight training before a flight test can be carried out. The PPL certificate means that you can fly single-engine aircraft with a maximum take-off weight of 5,700 kg.
